Chairmans Blog: Mid way through the season

Hi all,

We are at the midpoint of the season and wanted to give an update on the season so far. It has been a really good first half to the season, both on and off the field.

We set out this season to do 4 things: fulfill all our games, be competitive in those games, start a colts section & have some fun along the way. The good news is that we have done all of these so far. The spirit in the club is great .

A few mentions are needed as ever, to Gees and Craig for captaining the sides, Tristan, Chris Spencer & James Austin for working through selection each week- a vast improvement over prior years and Chris Kukla and Jeff Sales for their work with the colts. We now have 13 U11s starting from zero at the beginning of the year. Of course, we can’t forget Rachel and Ann in the background who are doing an amazing job as always!

We want to finish this season strongly and there is still so much to come- here are some dates for the diaries:

  • Thursday 17th July – home vs Woking Council
  • Sunday 20th July- Sunday game at home.
  • Friday 1st August- Quiz at the Club 8pm start- food provided.
  • Sunday 17th August- Fete Day & Boot Fair
  • Sunday 17th August – home vs DNX (James Austin XI)
  • Saturday 4th October- End of Season dinner

We also have Boot Fairs on Sunday 20th July & Sunday 7th September.

Let’s keep having fun and playing cricket in the right spirit!
